Newcastle University Launches Life After Transplant Survey Study
UK liver transplant recipients invited to help shape future quality-of-life and healthcare survey tools.
Researchers at Newcastle University have launched a new study to better understand patient experiences and quality of life following organ transplantation.
The project, developed within the Newcastle and Cambridge NIHR/NHSBT Blood and Transplant Research Unit in Organ Donation and Transplantation, aims to refine two new survey tools. These tools are designed to record patient-reported outcomes, symptom management, and healthcare interactions post-surgery.
Who can get involved?
The study team is looking for volunteers who meet the following requirements:
- Resident in the United Kingdom
- Aged 18 years or older
- Received a liver transplant 12 months ago or more
Participation involves testing online surveys or taking part in an interview to ensure the questions are clear and accurately capture the transplant experience.
Why is this research needed?
A liver transplant offers a treatment option for advanced liver disease, but long-term post-transplant healthcare experiences vary. Standardised tools help healthcare professionals identify ongoing symptoms and improve support for transplant recipients.
